Deborah Ullman

Deborah Ullman, MA, is a coach, bodyworker, therapist, and Gestalt trainer working in Orleans on Cape Cod, MA, with adults and teens. She loves her work focusing on systemic healing, relational therapy, shame and belonging, and nature-based visionary learning. Deborah is coeditor of CoCreating the Field: Intention and Practice in the Age of Complexity, as well as a number of chapters and articles in the field. As Editor and Co-director of GestaltPress (published and distributed by Routledge, Taylor & Francis), she has served as developmental editor of several books by other authors as well. Deborah holds degrees from Wellesley College and Saybrook Institute, where her dissertation focused on the work of pioneering Gestaltist Kurt Lewin. Her current project is a guide for therapists/helping practitioners on working with shame issues. She travels and leads workshops widely.

With a long history in broadcast media, Deb has worked in tv and radio, ranging from cable political talk shows to major market morning-drive radio, rock and jazz programming from Boston to Boulder, St Petersburg to Cleveland. Paying attention to political, humanistic, and spiritual movements, Deborah is regularly nourished by music and her four decade yoga practice. As a teacher/trainer, Deb serves as member of the visiting faculty of Gestalt Institute of Cleveland as well as Esalen Institute in Big Sur California, where she also co-chairs the Esalen Center for Theory & Research Conference series “The Evolution of Gestalt,” now planning its fifth public conference; she is also an invited attender at Esalen CTR Conferences in Evolutionary Panentheism and The New Human Story. In addition Deb serves on the organizing faculty of the Gestalt International Study Center in Wellfleet MA, where she co-chairs the Personal Growth and Exploration Summer Series.
